Why does pricing vary so much among photographers?

✧ ✧ ✧

Let’s talk about that…

Some photographers charge very little for their services other photographers seem quite expensive in comparison. Why such a difference if, in the end, they both give great photos?

Think about it in terms of restaurants (apologies for the references if you are vegetarian😬):

Sometimes you need quick, budget-friendly places like In & Out or Five Guys. Good food. Wallet-conscious prices. Fast & convenient. 🍔🥤

Other times you want slower-paced dining that is more than just a meal, it’s an experience like, say, at Mastro’s Steakhouse 🍷🥖🥗🍽🥩🍮☕️ (btw, if you have never tried their lobster bisque, you are missing out 🦞🤤)

Same concept applies to photography:

Maybe when you have toddlers & a young family you want the get-in-get-out family portrait experience because, let’s face it, it is SO much better that way for all involved when they are little 😂

When your kids are older or perhaps when you need branding photos for your new business that’s when you want more of the experience: professional hair & makeup as part of the session, multiple outfit changes, plenty of time so you don’t feel rushed…you get the idea.

My sessions definitely are more of the latter - an experience rather than a quick in & out. Being a nurse practitioner for almost 20 years now, I have come to cherish the appointment that is not rushed & specifically designed my business so you never feel your experience wash cut short, hurried or not worth the time & money you invested.
